Single Review | Robert Hunter | Afterglow

Robert Hunter AfterglowAmerican singer/songwriter Robert Hunter returns with his second EP ‘Afterglow’, the follow up to 2016’s acclaimed ‘Outta My Mind’. The Danville, PA  musician recorded this EP in Nashville, TN and is continuing the long musical heritage of this city with a passionate record that is, at times, both overwhelming and uplifting.

Robert’s refreshing brand of alt-rock is proudly displayed on ‘Afterglow’, with accomplished tracks including ‘Gone for Good’ and ‘Cable’ that offer a smart outlook on the trials and tribulations of life. Intelligent lyrics link with carefully constructed melodies to create a package that really is a joy to listen to.

The EP has also taken on an extra dimension because after the recording Robert found out that his best friend and collaborator Becky has been diagnosed with Cancer, making this record all the more touching and personal. Robert states that “Becky is the driving force behind all my songs, and the person that I am. She’s my Afterglow. It’s all intertwined. And if sharing this with the world makes her happy, then that is what I’m going to do. She is bold, tenacious, faithful, caring, courageous and kind. And I am humbled to be in her service”. To be honest, I can’t think of a better reason to tune in and listen to this marvel of a record.
