Canadian band Arcade Fire have confirmed that they will headline the Worthy Farm festival in 2014.

In a move that went against the usual hush hush announcement process, the band rather unceremoniously revealed themselves as being on the Glastonbury bill in a less than cryptic tweet…

The sudden announcement seemed to come as a bit of a surprise to the organisers of the UK festival who took a few hours to confirm the news on the official Glastonbury Facebook page

The new won’t come as a massive surprise to many – Arcade Fire scored their second UK number one album in 2013 with Reflektor, and with a very sold back catalogue it would seem the band are perfect headliner material. Plus having not played at this level at Glastonbury before they fitted perfectly into the ‘Glastonbury virgins’ category that Glasto head Michael Eavis revealed linked the three 2014 headliners.

Rumours of the headliners for the Saturday and Sunday nights continue to roll on, with Daft Punk, Fleetwood Mac, Kanye West, Prince and Kasabian all being discussed for the prestigious slots at one of the world’s most famous music festivals.

UK fans who missed out on Glasto tickets but still want to catch the band in 2014 can still get tickets to their June shows at Earls Court
